Tablet Options

Hi folks, hoping you can assist the tech challenged?

I have a chance to get my hands on an iPad for cheap. Using our beloved EVO to tether via USB all I want to do is be able to surf the web, listen to Pandora, watch movies, etc etc.

Can I get EITHER the WiFi or the 3G version to accomplish this? I don't want to sign up for any carrier's service.....just use the EVO to bring the tablet to life, so to speak.

Can I still download movies, etc via iTunes if I don't have a contract with AT&T or Verizon as long as I have internet access via the EVO?

If I get the 3G version does it ALSO have WiFi capability which would be nice when I'm home or anywhere that has a WiFi signal.

Basically, I just want to be able to use the tablet anywhere I have 3G signal with the EVO or WiFi where that is available for frere.

I have a WiFi only iPad and use my EVO to wirelessly tether my internet connection to the iPad, works great. The 3g iPad also includes a WiFi connection, but it's more expensive because it includes a 3G radio, which you're not planning on using.

Simply put: get the WiFi only iPad.

Your iPad options are (various drive space offerings excluded)

1) wifi
2) wifi + 3G

Option 1 is cheaper.
Option 2 allows you to use AT&T's cell towers for data, meaning you'd have Internet wherever you have signal from AT&T (and soon Verizon). You'd be paying more for this device, since you're paying for a data plan with AT&T.

If you're planning to tether an iPad to an Evo, you obviously don't need option 2.

I tether my wifi ipad to evo. Range is pretty good. And works just fine with the evo in my pocket.
