Tablet resolution question

Newbie
Noob here ..to Android. Fairly well versed in PC build and all.

Looking to buy a tablet ..trying to stay at about 200.00 or less ..w/ a capacitive screen.

Most are 800x 480 resolution, such as this E-FUN NextBook PREMIUM 7 Android Tablet 7 inch Capacitive Multi-Touch-Google Android OS 2.3-Capacitive Touch-Kobo-Cortex-A8 1GHz - DinoDirect.com
Others ..just a bit more, are 1024x768 ..like
New MID V8 Google Android 2.3 8" Capacitive Touchscreen Tablet PC Brown - DinoDirect.com

So, is the higher resolution worth it in such a small screen? If this was a PC, I would go easily with the higher spec, but I know that higher screen settings require more power - easily covered by a PC.

Given limited power in these units, could that make the 800x480 faster ...and still give great IQ ..say for jpegs?

Thanks for ANY & ALL help ..want to make the best decision I can ..so don't be shy. :)

Maybe if you wanna play games or view good quality pictures. These days pics taken from digi cams are hi res. Viewing them on hi-res resolutions is just a lot sharper. Another thing, text renders much clearer on hi-res screens. But if the screen size itself is small (e.g. 7") then you might be fine.

Thanks, Dave.

My THINKING is that it may NOT make much difference in a 7-8" screen ...but I am HOPING to get some folks that have either the normal or hi res units to comment on their experience.

Have U purchased a tablet yet? What is your experience?
Thanks again.

Note: The sale goes off at Dino Direct on the 7th. Hope to get some more input by then. :)

I am not sure about this. But, you could try asking on one of the forums for those devices. I'm sure the folks there would know.

Oh, I wasn't trying to come across as 'you shouldn't post here', but I just thought that on those forums you might get a more "I know this" instead of "I think this".

Someone might come along here too that knows about tablet resolution, but I'm not one of them.

I actually have the nextbook and honestly its pretty clear. I mean if your like a inch to the screen you will see some pixels but its not tthat bad.

I'd say the lower resolutions are fine on the 7-8 inch tablets. You'll get much more performance and battery life on a lower resolution too.

Galaxy Tab 10.1: 1280x800.

iPad 2: 1024x768

Nexus One: 800x480
