Tablet turn on delay

GlenAM

Newbie
I have acquired several tablets over the last several months. It seems like when I turn any of them on, that have been off a few hours, it looks look like there is continuous internet activity for a few minutes before I can do what is the reason I turned it on.

Is it the tablet apps that can't be uninstalled that are being updated by Google ? How can I prevent this from happening ? It's a real nuisance..

Thanks,
g

If you go into google play settings and tell it not to auto update apps then it will ask you first if you want to update even system apps.
Things like weather widgets, social networks etc will connect to the internet when you boot up to check for notifications

Thanks, that makes sense. I've done it on one. (part of my android learning curve)

... I recommend never doing automatic updates. You should be aware of what is going on and control when it happens.

Something else to consider ... periodically clear the data buffer where temporary files are stored. It can become fragmented and really slow down the launching of an app (like when you initially startup).
