Hi yamabushi334,
There are two ways to receive updates for your device
1) If the people who make the machine itself, release a specific update for it. This would be an official update. Each Android machine (be it a tablet, phone, or whatever) is very different, and the updates have to be tailored to the device it is to run in. Not even the big phones (HTC, Samsung, Sony etc) have 2.3 yet, so it is unlikely that this device will have the update available, and even if they will officially support it.
2) The second way, is of course by rooting. Again, like above, each device is different. A method for rooting on one device can be very different to another. Can you device be rooted? Probably, yes. But will there be a ready made safe way to root it? Again, unlikely, no.
The reason for this comes down to the plethora of Tablets out there, from a wide range of companies. Just a basic numbers game really. The more people that own a device, the more likely someone would have rooted it.
I would say your best bet, is the XDA forums. Does anyone have the same device as you? Is there a way to root it? Etc etc.
But in simple terms, it would be unlikely you will get 2.3 on this any time soon. You would also be pretty lucky to get 2.2. But I hope you find it
