Help Taking Screenshots (no root and no app)

I just wanted to know if anyone knew how this can be accomplished?

I know it is possible because i seemed to have unknowingly performed this task (folder in media file with multiple pictures says i did this) and i have also read that others have done so but did not know how it was performed as well (posted on yahoo answers, i know not a credible source)
