as for apps, give it time, android is growing. it's still shitephone mania at the moment but that will soon wane away.

I listen to Talksport using Tune in Radio which is free on the android market.It works really well on 3g and unlike an app, you can choose another station when Adrian Durham starts getting on your nerves!
