'Talk' won't stay on screen

I've got a HTC Legend on VF UK with the branded 2.2 update they issued. Everytime I open 'Talk' it just disappears. Holding down home it is listed as if it is running but I cannot get it it. I've rebooted, turned the handset off and on but it's made no difference. Any ideas ?

I have tried doing this;
Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Talk > Clear data

I had to clear internal memory to over 20mb before "talk" would work... so it was just a space issue.
