Lurker
I just got htc evo couple of days back. On home screen if I used to tap and hold, a small window used to appear still showing me background image with options - Widget, App, Shortcut, Folder. I don't know what I changed today, if I tap and hold on front screen it brings up new window covering entire screen with Widget, App, Shortcut, Folder options. So it is not stopping me from accessing the options. Just wanted to get my earlier experience back with small pop up window with out blocking my home background image.

Please help if anyone knows how to bring it back.

I didn't get you. Its just the home screen with my wallpaper. When you press and hold on empty space pop up used to appear. Instead new screen is appearing which is full screen with same menu options.

One more thing I noticed just now - pressing home button does not bring me to home screen either.

I'm pretty sure my phone always popped up with a full screen for adding apps/widgets, whether I did a press and hold on an empty spot or hit the + button in the bottom right

I am using htc sense.
I think biggest change I see is - My home button is not working. It just flickers screen once. And my search button also does not open search box. It does nothing.

Problem with the buttons got fixed. The problem was with HTC sense. I just cleared the data. Just in case if any one else has similar problem, Here are the steps -
1) Go in Setting-Applications-Manage Applications.
2) Select Running tab.
3) Scroll down to HTC Sense. Tap on it.
4) Tap on Clear data button.
5) Turn off and Restart the HTC Evo.
