Target Initially Allocated 2 Per Store - Pics Attached

I found an Optimus V at a Target in Toledo this morning. According to the stores in this area, they each had two, but the first store couldn't find theirs yet in the back...the second one did. The internal Target code for the phone, known as a DPCI, is 080-02-0724, which helps the employees locate the phone. Price is $149.99, and Target has VM time on sale for 5% off this week, meaning a $25 card is $23.74. Other cards priced accordingly. Here is the phone at Target.

Target also offers a 2-year replacement plan for $17.99 which covers everything but loss/theft or deliberate damage for $17.99.

When I get it totally activated and have a chance, I'll run some side-by-side tests with the Intercept. I'm sure others will as well soon.

Good for you! I have MetroPCS LG M (Rooted and crapware removed)

Let me know how you like it because my friend wants to get this one and dump his ole Motorola i1 :D

What's the Android version out of the box?

Are you going to attempt to root?

Android 2.21...likely not root unless tethering becomes a real issue...I believe I can use PDANet, not so sure about EasyTether, yet. This phone has EV-DO Rev. A, the M has Rev. 0, I believe. I'll be messing with it more in the next day or two...some guys are beginning to post more stuff at Howard Forums and on YouTube.

And..."Sorry sir, boarding is finished" :D

Maybe your new line should be..."Don't come back without the phones"...ha!

The Fifth Element is actually my test movie to evaluate movie playback on Android phones...OOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo

2.2.1's can't be rooted with the old trusty z4root - Believe me, you will root it eventually just to get rid of the VMobile apps (crapware)... That's how I found these forums and all the helpful advice.

I am a meat Popsicle.

I actually bought an Intercept about two weeks ago...I was just beginning to test it when I heard about the V...most reports have the V kicking the Intercept's arse...but I do like at least having the physical kb available. And there are a number of other things I have to compare for my own specific needs...which I'll be doing over the next week or two.

I'm an Andriod noob...and a long time Palm Treo user...if I could find a GPS cradle that worked well for the Treo 700p (and yes, I've tried both the Garmin and the TomTom), I'd stick with my Treo...it works...all the bugs are out, and it still blows most phones away for my needs. But I want an integrated GPS and the Google Voice Actions app could be really useful for me driving in Southern California. I think I've found a car mount/belt clip-case setup that will work with the V that I already have on the way.

If I was going to root...it would more likely be the Intercept to get 2.2 on it and be able to move apps to the card...a lot of people complain about the Intercept being slow, and it's a phone that really needs the 2.2 upgrade...but "sometime this spring" from VM could mean a long, long time for the real one. The early reports are that the V has less crapware than the Intercept or the Optimus S, and guys are looking for a System Dump for the V so they can port that back to the Sprint S...just for that reason.

The fun begins...indeed. Thanks for the thanks...and...

"I'll take the mission" ;)
