Task Killer

From the posts through all the way up, that the phone runs slow with the killer or/and the phone runs fast without the killer is in large due to the faulty and defect of the individual phones in your hands. It's no relations to the task killers as to the drainage of the battery life but the phone itself we use.

When we see the memory increase by killing the apps, it might be probably nothing but a change of the readings on the screen. Nothing else much. I would say that I might as well keep the killer with me just so that I would be able to feel safer even though the killer does no actual job at all.

I'd advise having a task killer on your device, but use the application, rather than the widget.

That way, you can see what you are about to kill.

Not saying your wrong, although Task Killers don't benefit me, but can you actually tell us why you advise having a Task Killer?

I use it very occasionally to kill the processes that build up.

I also use it to kill unresponsive applications. It's quicker to get to than the built in killer in the settings.

Wow this is confusing! LOL

So should I have one or not? To be honest I uninstalled the task Killer last night, and my battery seems to be dieing fast!

I have push Mail for Yahoo! Is there a way of altering its update timeframe?

I'm really new to all this, and barely know how to make a call on it

No, push email doesn't have a frequency of updates setting. when yahoo receives your email (the website) it pushes it to your phone, so you get email instantly. The fewer emails you get, the less battery yahoo will use.

You coudl try configuring the HTC mail application for yahoo to see if you notice better battery life (temporarily remove yahoo).

Failing that, see some of the battery threads for advice on finding out what is raining your battery and for battery saving tips.

You could list what apps you have installed here to see if anyone knows of any that may cause drainage issues too.

If your undecided about whether to have a task killer or not, then i would say instal the ATK, and in the settings section change the auto kill level to 'disable' then if you have a troublesome app or have very low ram just hit kill in the app to get everything running as it should.

I have my ATK set to crazy autokill and my personal view is that my battery life is slightly better than without the app. Its one of the first apps i had and now i dont think i could delete it even if i wanted to.

Well I must say I removed the App Killer this morning and battery life is still around the same, 55% remaining after being off charge for 7 hours despite being sat on my desk at work doing nothing for about 5 of those hours!
