Help Task list/manager?

I've tried googling and searching the forums but I can't find a way to quickly switch between app/tasks.

Not looking to kill apps, I just want to move between functions. On the iphone if you double click the home button, or alt+tab on a pc you can jump to other active apps/programs. I think i found it accidentally one time because a box of current apps popped up but i don't know how to do it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
