Help Tasker and S3 Don't get along....

Evo 5oh

Well I have Tasker and I put it where every time I'm connected to my WiFi I don't have to put my pattern password, so when I'm not connected I have too...

Well the profile is active and it works for a good few minutes time to time, but it stops working eventually, even though on my notification bar it says the Profile is active.

Hmm, just tested this out as I have a similar profile created that uses a cell tower near trigger instead of the Wi-Fi connect trigger, but you are right. Mine didn't disengage the keyguard either.

Other Tasker profiles have been working fine, though, like the one I have that silences the phone at night.

Hmmm... I got an S3 last weekend and just imported my tasks from my HTC desire. I use it to:
Adjust the volume and launch audio player when headphones are inserted
Alert me when the battery life gets too low
Silence when turned over
Auto adjust brightness when video players are launched
Auto turn on GPS when certain apps are launched
Tell me the weather daily at 7:30 a.m.

[FONT=&quot]The only one I had any issues with was adjusting the GPS. Just a reference for what works.

This profile works fine for me. You definitely don't have a problem with the "secure settings" app?

Well it works for a few minutes or a few times but then it stops... what you mean secure setting ?

Secure settings is a plug in for Tasker and many other apps. It gives you more options during profile creation. You can download it for free on Google Play.

I couldn't get it to work so when I asked the guy who had the profile, he told me I needed it.

Keygaurd pattern says unavailable on my device. Only keygaurd is available which is supposed to be pin and password. It worked once on pattern I believe.

Anyway, op can't get it working so using this should resolve the issue

Sometimes they mess up. I made a profile using secure settings. After you enter 2 wrong passwords, front camera would take a photo. I had pattern unlock, it worked only once, but then I changed my password to pin code and now it's working flawlessly. I don't know what causes it but what I'm trying to say is Tasker may sometimes mess up the :)

Yeah I take a photo of intruders then email it. Awesome

I can see it now - I wake up at 3am for a pager message and try to unlock my phone and goof up a couple of times because I'm so tired.

Several hours later I look at my email and find several pictures of an aged sleep deprived hag and think 'my god, I look terrible in the morning' and have a depression that lasts the rest of the day.

:)

Yeah, I have an inbox full of pictures, but at least I recognise when I am going to get them, so trending tells me when one will be from an intruder ;)

After downloading secure setting, enable it device admin. Then make a profile, name it whatever you want, select event-plug in-secure settings, there select number of incorrect password number, set it whatever you want, mine is 2, then create a task and link it with the profile you created. At task creation menu, select media-take photo-select front camera and select discreet. That's all :)

here you go i hope this helps you understand tasker better.
Beginners Guide to Android Tasker | Part 1 - YouTube

I followed the instructions on that video, and like Evo 5oh said, it doesn't really work. In fact weird stuff starts happening. If I get an email notification and I'm already in the phone, I pull down the notification and when I tap on the notification, up shoots the pattern lock screen! Even when I'm already in the phone.

I downloaded secure settings and enabled both it and tasker in administrators, but no change.

Not sure whats in that video, but mine works perfectly.

I used this article:

Automatically Take and Email Your Photo - Tasker Wiki

and customised to create the following (I removed my email address and password)

Can any of you tell me if "display unlocked" works for you?

Tasker on my gs3 seems to be treating display unlocked the same as display on.

I can't for the life of me get the damn thing to take a picture in the event of failed log in attempts.

And I can't get the disable Keyguard when connected to my home wifi to work.
Do both require root?

I can't get the disable keyguard when connected to my home wifi to work, and I'm rooted, so that's not the issue.

Yes, it's the one by intangibleObject

SUroot, I don't think we're talking about the same issue. Could you try to set up a simple profile that turns off pattern lock when you're connected to your home wifi, and then turns it back on when you're not connected?

I can get it to do that, but there seems to be a problem with Tasker and ICS where if you get a notification in the notification bar and you click on it (say to open the email), a lock screen appears, and then from that point on the profile is broken and every time you wake your phone you will get a lock screen.

The only thing you can do is turn off the profile, close tasker, start it and re-enable the profile. But it will break next time a notification is clicked on.
