Tasker doesn't get root?

Alaza

Lurker
Hi there guys.

So I just rooted my SGS2 for the first time, due to the fact that I wanted Tasker to be able to toggle my lock screen on and off as a function of WiFi and/or 3G antennas. However, this is quite unstable without root, and as I understand it the performance should somehow be improved with sudo rights. So I flashed to Siyah on my Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and with it came "CWM", "STweaks" and "SuperSU". As I launched CWM it asked for sudo permissions which I enabled. However, Tasker never did the same thing and I haven't experienced any improvement in the stability of my screen lock.

I tried reinstalling Tasker with no luck. Is there anything I'm missing here?

Thank you.

So you diagnosed the problem correctly, Tasker has no root access. Try to make it do something that requires root access, like reboot the phone (Menu, More, Run an action, Misc, Reboot, Normal). SU should pop up a message asking for root access for Tasker. Just press "Grant".

Good luck my friend.

Thank you for the tips. I have however already tried to reboot the phone and doing stuff in Tasker that could potentially trigger a reaction. It doesn't change anything. :/

Try another app like Root Checker to see if you have full root access.
I dont know if you flashed a rom but on a lot of the new ones you have to enable root for apps and adb in Developer Options
Or even fire up stweaks. I think that asks for SU. Great app by the way

Root Checker confirms that I have root, and RC is listed in SuperSU alongside CWM as well. Indeed it did also ask for sudo permissions when I launched it. Is it possible that Tasker somehow just doesn't need sudo permissions, and that I have misunderstood whether it needed sudo to perform a lot of its tasks as intended?

Tbh im not a tasker user, i dont have the attention span lol. Maybe ask in the tasker sub-forum at top of page. Gd luck mate
