and to go to settings > applications > running services and close services that are using memory. I know that apps are saved to the phones internal storage, is that the problem? Is there a way to save them to the SD card? I have plenty of space there, should I just delete more apps? I'm unrooted btw so things like Skype are using memory and I can't seem to get rid of them :(

I've been wondering this too. For the last couple weeks, as I update apps, my updates have been stopped due to lack of memory. Hopeful for answers!

Tasker is referring to your available RAM, not storage memory.

OP: What device to you have? I have an original Droid, which says it has 256 MB of RAM, but the device only shows about 170 MB of available RAM to use and I generally have 35 MB or fewer free at any one time. Lately, I've noticed that Tasker is taking up 30+ MB of RAM on my phone and need this rectified or I'll have to stop using it until I upgrade to a new device.
