That's the Lexar class 10 32GB microSDHC card :D

If you can't read it, that 10MBps write, 49.9MBps read.

That's the stock card. It actually seems to test out at almost class 6 speeds.

So, is the speed increase worth the cost? That's entirely up to you.

However, have no doubt ... there ARE real gains to be had from upgrading the card and the phone is able to utilize them.

will having the stock card necessarily hinder me in any way? I don't exactly know if 5mbs is good or not since I know nothing about cards

For most people, I don't think so. A faster card will benefit you if you
  • run a lot of apps off SD
  • want to take photos faster
  • take a lot of video

There might be other specific apps down the road that utilize it (games, Netflix possibly), but those are the major ones I can think of off the top of my head. Class 10 will just make your phone seem a little zippier, but I'm sure you can use your phone just fine without it.

Apologies for reviving an old thread. I am buying a used TB and the seller is keeping the SD card. I am planning on purchasing a Class 10 replacement. Will I need to prepare the new card, such as formatting, in any way prior to using it with TB or will it be "plug and play"? I'm assuming there is a process.

Also, off topic, I know I'll need to get a sim card from Verizon. I think I read in another thread that Verizon won't charge me for the sim card. Is this true?

Thanks

Just slide the card in and go on your way. Simple as that. Some people format the card but its not needed. I have used cards right out the package with no problems.

Yes, it's true. There should be NO charge for the Sim card. Keep in mind that when you first activate the phone, you should do so by calling Verizon Wireless on an entirely different phone or, by stopping in a corporate Verizon Wireless store. They'll key the sim card to your account and to your phone so you can get the most out of your service...

Sorry for bumping. Ever since I got my thunderbolt I've been looking to get rid of stutters during video recording that is evident during playback. Will upgrading my stock sd card to the one above fix this issue? Thanks.

Also I've tested my stock sd speed with that app and I got 15MB/s compared to the 30MB/s above. Any idea why?

Yeah, same thing has happened to me a couple times, but thats because I've recorded at 720. So, I'm fairly torn as to what to go with. Barring going with a more advanced card, is there no way to improve recording to prevent a occasional stutter?

I've found that lowering the exposure a bit seems to help. But it gets darker so not too practical. Try keeping the camera steady and avoid sharp panning as well.

So it is confirmed? Upgrading my sd card will prevent stutters?
