Well, the receipt states that it is for the TB preorder, so I guess it is just a redundancy. That said, she wrote my place (#7) in the preorder line on the form, so those forms and numbers might be useful in case they run out on the first day.

ALSO, if something is put into an ad and circulated if in fact there was no product to back it up, then what is the statute of limitations on false advertisement?
Take a look at the legaleze blurb on the back page of an advertisement tab. Pretty sure they cancel out any obligation. FWIW.

Not in stock at a particular store is much different than not available at any best buy whatsoever.
Best Buy, although I hate to say it, isn't stupid enough to risk not having it in stock SOME POINT during the week it's in the ad.

So far BB is the one that has given bogus dates. I have had the 24th down as the date all along. I have the phones as coming in between the 21st & 23rd, why are people spreading bad info like it's fact? Verizon doesn't give any info to the employees untill the phones are ready to sell. If I walk in to a corporate store there goal is to sell me a phone, or upgrade me. If I'm not going to buy anything they will show me to the door. They wont waste time if they wont make $$$ now. That is why that don't know squat.

It still seems that Jay has the most accurate inside track on this for several reasons...works at best buy, has a keen interest in staying on top of this chaos, and is willing to offer detail. Otherwise, there is a wide range of response on this topic just from the world of best buy alone and often from workers even in the mobile dept. that are just plain uninformed or uninterested. Proof? Try spot checking what they know by occasionally calling various stores beyond just the one you preordered from. Just today I called 3 stores - my preorder store says they have no idea when they are going to get the phone in spite of their Sunday ad. Next local store says they may have them in stock right now but must hold them until told by Verizon of a release date, in spite of the Sunday ad, and in spite of not being limited by any announced street date. Finally, my last call met up with a very ambitious store...mobile rep. there confrimed the Sunday ad, indicated a UPS shipment of the Thunderbolt scheduled to drop at their store tomorrow, and told me they plan to start selling on Sunday. He added they would fill preorders from their store first and then sell to everyone else after. So, main point here is...wow. Just wow.

Correct, when I was getting a new upgrade on one of our lines about a month or 2 ago (pre-iPhone launch) I was making small talk with the rep helping me as he was getting the new phone ready. He admited that they get their information from probably the same places we get ours. He said a lot of times customers will come in and ask them about rumors of dates (he used the iPhone release as an example), and must of the time it is the first a rep has ever heard of it.
Now here is what we know about the Thunderbolt that are facts:
1) When the phone was first announced the date given was 1st Q 2011
2) Verizon made a tweet that it could launch earlier then we expected
3) Best Buy started pre-orders with a launch date of 2/14
4) The CEO of HTC announced at MWC that the Thunderbolts would start shipping this week.
5) Ads (that to this point hadn't been anywhere) all of a sudden are everywhere as of Monday.
So that is really all we have at this point, I would say HTC saying the phones are shipping out this week would point to there not being a delay in manufactering. The delay we might see could be a few days to allow stores to get the stock and get it ready.

I called 3 stores also and 2 indicated the drop for tomorrow/sale on Sunday as well. The 3rd, well she was just in her own little world poor thing, told me she wasn't sure what I was talking about and could I please call back. LOL
You've give everyone good info, and just wanted to tell what my dates are. They pretty much match up. That dude posting confirmed in the headline, then giving a stupid explanation like that is crazy!

It was just pointed out that this weekend is President's Day weekend. That tends to be one of those holiday weekends places like Best Buy love to run big sales since there are people that have a three day weekend with nothing else to do. It would be advantageous for BB to have the phone to push.

@black_man_x also tweeted that he always said tb would launch in march so if vzw does get it to us in feb we should feel good about vzw working so hard to get it to us early.

I trust black_man_x, the only thing though is that the HTC CEO said the phones were shiping this week, which would lead me to believe that the phones are ready and any sort of delay would be on VZW's side getting them into stores.

You all have ruined this thread which has great information on it. Believe me or not the thunderbolt is supposed to be the 28th. Its posted on droid-life.com and my verizon rep told us and sent an email.

It is nothing against you, it is just that these threads are popping up almost hourly now... Almost every single one is pure speculation, until we hear something from VZW or HTC there really is nothing we can do. The ONLY thing we know for sure right now is that the CEO of HTC stated the phones will ship this week.
The Droid-life post is pure crap, it's "source" was two posts on two blogs. One blog, that no one had ever heard of, said they heard it from a guy who heard it from a guy at BB. The second blog was Android Guys who claimed themselves as the source.
Neither one of the two blogs posted any screen shots or links to back up the rumor. Droid-life then made a post saying that "a bunch of places are posting" which came down to two blogs that mean nothing.
Again nothing against you but I think most of us are just sick of the rumor posts, especialy when they have "confirmed" in the title.

This whole thing is just a roller coaster and when you see confirmed you think that the official words is out...so you're a bit bummed...then you hear that maybe this isn't truly official...so you get a glimmer of hope again. It is all just sort of crazy and we will all just need to be patient and see. I want you to be wrong, but I'm not saying you are. I just have to ride this out...again.

Exactly! If anyone seemed to be flaming you I think it was eitehr A) They are mad that they might have to wait another 4 days (PERISH THE THOUGHT!!!) or B) They think "confirmed" means something a little more concrete than more "well she said...".
It isn't personal, this is just very stressful for all of us

Ok, all I am going to say is that just because YOUR BB received an email confirming the release delay, doesn't mean that is true for every BB. Likewise, just because J posted that his BB is getting it in possibly this weekend, doesn't mean that is true for every BB. Your taking it way to personally, when all you have is a rumor just like everyone else. An email is great, but it still only indicates that YOUR BB is having a delay. That's all anyone is trying to convey.
