Man, tbolt was lagging! Thinking about master reset. Decided to delete all my SMS theads (was loaded) boom......speedy tbolt back! Delete process Tom over five minutes!

I think this alone may be the reason SOME attribute clean install of mr1/2 with reset. ..after this finding gonna wait for ota mr2.

This has been the case with ALL of my smartphones, dating back to Windows Mobile days. IT also boots up much faster without all the SMS messages to load.

It's weird you posted this because just yesterday I flashed a new rom and decided to ""start new" and delete all my sms messages. I was definitely surprised because it seemed a lot quicker.

Wonder if this works with deleting google voice text messages...

Probably not since it seems like gvoice messages are stored on their servers and simply synced across to your phone. Then again, if opening gvoice takes a while for you, maybe archive the old messages so that the app doesn't need to load that data.

Does anyone else use Handcent? It crashes on me every time I try to delete all threads. I have ended up deleting my threads with people I sms with the most.

I do, however, find this to be very annoying. From time to time, there are things that are important for me to go back and look up. I do this a lot with addresses and contact info in gmail. It is very annoying to have to delete texts. You would think that with all the storage on smartphones these day....

Whens the last time you updated? That sounds like a version from a while ago that was doing the same to me.

Try using GOSMS, I loved Handcent and recently started using GoSMS. Its really fast and just as customizable as Handcent.

GOSMS would be better if you had the ability to theme it yourself like with handcent. Thats one of the only things that keeps me from using it. Superficial I know, but yeah. lol.

Is the same true for gmail? Is it store on the servers? I'm thinking so since when I click on it it pauses before loading. However It is taking longer to load since I don't get to a Pc much to delete all. Is there a way to delete all folders on the device?

it sucks... the phone has enough memory and processing speed it should be a non issue. I only had 800 texts to one person....Its almost as bad as my OG Droid was with this issue... hopefully GB is an improvement but i doubt it.
