Tea Party

While these are all very creative, they are useless to help our nation. Kids in elementary school come up with names to call people they don't like. Adults create solutions.
Excuse me? Not very up on events, are you?

"Oilbama" - Yep, in honor of his Katrina, his "do nothing" attitude, and the fact he is bought and paid for by BP. Your Kenyan also approved the continued drilling of this very offshore rig before it exploded. I have posted the proof before. Without even the proper examination of BP's environmental disaster plan. Oilbama is bought and paid for:

BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
"Kenyan" - Yep, even his wife says Kenya is his home country. Listen about half-way through:

YouTube - Michelle says Barack's Home country is Kenya - full statement

So "Kenyan" is accurate.

"Barry" - Yep, Barry Soetero is his name. If you don't like it, take it up with your Kenyan.

So you accused me of playing name games like a child, but you didn't check your facts or even know what you are talking about. I know a lot of children that learned to do that in elementary school. Why didn't you?

If Obama's policies are just so distasteful to you, what do you suggest gets done to fix things? How about this economy? Republicans love the "free market" principle. And I admit that there are positives to it. But it is not a flawless principle. In modern economics the free market has been exposed to outsourcing jobs, threats of monopolies, corporations playing games with people's money, golden parachutes, outlandish bonuses etc. Clearly socialism is not the answer. But neither is pure "free market" economics. What are your suggestions then?
I just love responses like this! Like I said earlier, "Oilbama says that Bush put us in a hole, then he gets a shovel and starts digging. Now that's what I call a shovel ready project!"

Now that Oilbama is adding 4.9 billion dollars to the national debt every day (about three times what Bush did), you turn and say, "OK, now fix it!" You must forget how your Kenyan said he "invited" support from Republicans, but he didn't need it. Or how he said that those that didn't agree with him needed to shut up and get out of the way. Now that your Kenyan has taken this nation to the brink of economic destruction you want to deflect any responsibility by saying "fix it or stop complaining!"

Too funny!

Its people like you that ruined our polictal system. Why does it have to be one or the other

You really ought to cut back on the name-calling and insinuations. You know nothing about me or, as far as I can tell, any of the others you try so hard to slam.

I love reading these political posts. Why can't we all get along. In a couple years we will have another election and we can give someone else a chance to steal our money. We work hard so the politicians don't have to. Whether they are right or left that's all they want. I don't care if a caucasian or African American is in power. I don't care if he is right or left. Just do something positive to help the hard working Americans that gave you that position.

P.S White and Black are colors not race.

I never said you didn't have evidence for your creative names you made. I said making up those names aren't very useful in the grand scheme of things.

I am saying this on a specific and local level of this forum. All I hear is a lot of criticizing, name calling that is albeit creative, occasionally swearing (not from you Fenga), and a whole lot of venom spewing and negativity. I am quite sure when Bush Jr. was President, liberals were trashing him crazily as well. And when Clinton was President, conservatives were trashing him.

My point is, all the negativity does nothing but divide. For all the forums I have commented on, I have not read any suggestions on how to improve things for all the things people disagree with. Just a whole lot of attacks. I admit, I have joined in it as well and have not posted suggestions either. I aim to stop and am hoping others can join by being more constructive as well.

There are things that Bush Jr. did that I didn't agree with. There are things Obama is doing right now that I don't agree with. There are things Bush Jr. did that needs fixing and things Obama is doing that needs fixing. It doesn't seem like the politicians, whether Republican or Democrats are gonna fix anything. And if all we do is just attack each other and produce nothing constructive...well then we have no one to blame but ourselves for the dark days.

Erm, what name calling?

Ok, here's some simple solutions.

Tax imports(especially vehicles) heavily. We did it in the 1800s to save the economy and keep jobs here, whynot do it now?

Impose a heavy tax on outsourced call centers, once again, to keep jobs here.

Give (heavy)tax breaks to small and medium sized business's who supply full health insurance. I'm talking medical, dental, hearing, vision, the works.

Cut down on spending. Why are people holding a "slow/stop" sign getting paid $40/hr? Honestly? (Just one example, there is a ton of wasteful government spending)

Better management. Back to the contruction worker scenario, how often do we drive by and one guy is working and three are watching? No thanks. Make 'em all work, at the same time.

Cut welfare spending by 80%. There's no reason for someone(healthy) to be on welfare for longer than 6 months. Period. If they can't afford to feed their kids, to damn bad. Take the kids away. There are a lot of people who want kids and have to wait 1 - 2 yrs for an adoption. Bam problem solved.

Cut subsidy programs completely for telephone, heat, and water. (If your not working)Once again, people need to work. Now I understand people need help here and there, and that's fine. Everyone gets down on their luck, but these programs need to be used to help people turn it around, not provide for their whole lives. And before people go on the "its not enough money" rant.. listen to this:

Every single day, illegals come in this country and make it. They start with only clothes on their backs, most of the time don't speak english, and with little/no education. And somehow, they manage to buy cars, homes, etc, just by hard work. They start out with a lot less than any citizen, and end up with all these things. Get off your lazy ass, and work. Noone said life was easy.

Stop bailing out large corporations. If they fail, they failed for a reason. Let them die. Other corporations with buy their assetts, and make room for other business's.

Strengthen the borders, kick out the illegals. Like it or not, illegals are ruining our economy. They are taking our jobs, not paying into the tax system, and sending money outside the country to bring more illegals to do the same. Eff them. We need to take care of ourselves first before we become a third world country.

Put up fast charging EV stations in every gas station. Make it a requirement. Oil companies have raped us over the last decade or so, reaping in record Profits, while all our costs go up. It is tax deductable anyway, and if they are smart and equip large effiecient solar panels/wind generators, they have a cost-free renewable source of energy, in which they can sell for profit. Win/win for everyone involved, and the environment.

Give tax breas to everyone who purchases an EV, not hybrids. We need to get EV into the mainstream. This is how we do it.

And more ideas to come. This is only the tip of my iceberg. If I were president, I know I would have things changed for the better. Might end up getting assasinated first, but I know I could rally true change.

Agreed. I'd go further and give tax breaks to companies who keep jobs in America. The higher the %, the more the tax breaks.

Give (heavy)tax breaks to small and medium sized business's who supply full health insurance. I'm talking medical, dental, hearing, vision, the works.

Nice. But there needs to be something that will bring down the overall cost of health care. What bothers me is people want cheaper health care, but still smoke, eat Mickie Dees, drink heavily and not exercise. 2/3 of Americans are overweight or obese. And people get offended at Urbern Outfitters for a T-Shirt that says, "Eat Less".

Urban Outfitters' Eat Less T-Shirt Controversy
FASTSTATS - Overweight Prevalence

Yes, yes, anorexia is a serious medical problem. But 2/3 of American adults are overweight!

Cut down on spending. Why are people holding a "slow/stop" sign getting paid $40/hr? Honestly? (Just one example, there is a ton of wasteful government spending)

The issue is what else do we slash? People want all the services but don't want to pay.

Take the kids away. There are a lot of people who want kids and have to wait 1 - 2 yrs for an adoption. Bam problem solved.

Agree on the welfare cuts. Though with regards to kids, we need to fix the adoption system. It is extremely, horribly idiotically broken. Honestly, this is a very radical opinion, but I don't think having kids should be a right. If you are on welfare you should be getting injections to prevent you from having kids. I mean, come on! You need a license to drive a car! How is it a person can just pop out kids and screw over a life for the next 70 years and adversely affect the lives of everyone around them because they can't take care of that kid.

Strengthen the borders, kick out the illegals. Like it or not, illegals are ruining our economy.

Agreed. I see nothing wrong with making our border along Mexico like the borders along other nations. While I don't 100% support the Arizona immigration laws, I think the Mexican President is an idiot to criticize us for it. If I could, I would tell him to fix his own country so that his citizens don't go running into ours for us to take care of.

Put up fast charging EV stations in every gas station. Make it a requirement. Oil companies have raped us over the last decade or so, reaping in record Profits, while all our costs go up.

Good idea initially, but if you dig deeper EV don't solve the problem. Instead of burning oil, we burn coal to generate electricity. And in many ways, coal is worst than oil. We are trading one beast for another...until we really find alternative energy i.e solar, wind etc...this problem is not going away.

If I were president, I know I would have things changed for the better.

Nice sentiment. Not to dissuade you from thinking positively but you alone being President in what has become a very cumbersome and bogged down political system in America won't do much. Our problems can't only be fixed from the top down. Our politicians and leaders alone can't pass laws to remedy anything. The problem needs to be resolved by everyday citizens as well. We the people need to make the tough choices as well. Choose to stop smoking. Eat healthy. Try and buy American made products...(if possible and if they don't break down in a year). etc...

Wow Iowa. You typed ALL of that on your phone? That is wicked impressive.
It is! Maybe he uses Swipe?

Nope all done via my hardware qwerty. I'm very quick. In fact, I hammer out my of my posts on this forum through my phone.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

EDIT: about the EV system, I threw in maybe throw some high end high effenciency solar panes on every EV station. It is just wasted roof space after all... and the companies would more than make their money back by selling the power.

DrScrubs, IOWA......I like you guys.

You've made this thread bearable to read.

Also...

"The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
"The man who reads nothing at all is better than educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers."
-Thomas Jefferson

I could go on.

Photoshopped.

Badly.

When the Tea Party came for their demonstration, I hated them as much as everyone else who comes to DC and uses my metro. OK, maybe I really hated one of them a little more because he was a serious seat hog and dared to drink Coke on my train. If that were unique to the Tea Party, I could get on board with hating them and saying that they are the scourge of modern US society, but they were just the same hateful thing I call many people on my metro.
They were tourists.

My clients but for one are based in downtown DC, and I am downtown a lot. I have seen two tea party rallies. At both rallies, I have seen participants well within the main crowds carrying racist signs and other signs of hate. I have seen no efforts being made by the tea party types to disavow or distance themselves from the racists at the rallies. I would bet that many in the crowds share fully the ugly feelings, even if they feel uncomfortable expressing them publicly.

Studies have shown that the "movement" is comprised mainly of the base of the republican party. I believe that.

I didn't see the signs, but it is true that the GOP has bankrolled some of it. That alone would not make me combat them. If I catch, one of them leaving junk food wrappers on my train, it is ON, though.

So these guys hate Socialism so much, why do they continue to use city streets and federal highways? Why do they call 911 when something bad happens, or expect the police to protect them? I can't wait for these folks to live what they preach and go totally off the grid. I really want them to commit to what they believe in!

Regarding the roads, although generally publicly funded and maintained, the system of public roads is not "socialism" in a pure sense. Socialism is an economic system defined by exclusive government ownership of the means of production. Considering a lot of road-work is done by contracted private companies, it is not socialism in a strict sense. Police and fire protection would be an example of socialism, but if a state is to exist, it exists on the premise that it have a monopoly on force.

As for people who protest confiscatory taxation using these services, they're perfectly within their rights. If you're being forced to pay for something, you should have no moral qualms with collecting up to what you have paid into the system. Moreover, tea-partiers, along with most other anti-government dissidents (how I long for the days a few short years ago when dissent was rightly considered patriotic) aren't out there to protest the government providing paved roads and adequate police forces (especially considering the lion's share of that is funded by state governments and the tea-party movement has largely been directed at federal policymakers). The tea party movement started under Bush as a response to TARP, and was actually successful in gettitng the first iteration of TARP voted down before the second iteration was forced down our throats. Its primary aim (if such can be deduced from such a grassroots and multifaceted movement) is to reign in government spending on items that it considers unnecessary and wasteful.

If you wish to criticize the tea-party, you should start by mentioning that the tea parties haven't address the 800-lbs spending gorilla. Its nice to say lets eliminate the $150 million annually for the National Endowment for the Arts and all that, but its a drop in an ocean of profligacy. The tea party, being primarily composed of older baby-boomers, has refused to seriously call for serious reform of medicare and social security to reign in the costs of these two items which comprise a majority (and rapidly increasing one at that) of federal outlays. Furthermore, the tea partiers being largely 'pubs haven't been as vocal about cutting defense spending, which comprises about 20-25% of the federal budget. Discretionary spending is less than a quarter of our federal budget, and you can't nickel and dime your way into financial solvency until you show a willingness to attack the three-headed monster of budgetocalypse, and the tea partiers have failed to categorically endorse those vital reforms.

Yes, well, if we don't spend 6 and half times as much as the next strongest military, HOW WILL AMERICA REMAIN THE BEST?

I loved Ron Paul's ideas about how to cut defense spending. They actually sounded like they meant something and would actually have an impact. We don't need to TRIM anything, we need to CUT a LOT. If they're not going to cut, then they need to re-appropriate, because spending is all fu`cked up.

Whoa, Nellie! If we don't spend what we do on the military, how are we going to defend our U.S. corporations, banks, and insurance companies in their never-ending quest to enrich themselves at the expense of the middle class and to turn the American worker into a serf by exporting jobs overseas? :D

The military budget needs to be sliced in half...just for openers.

U.S. military presence in 130 countries. Defense spending is something that definitely needs drastic cuts. No more nation building. Too bad neither party thinks that is true.
