Techcrunch review of nexus 5..some good...some not so good

I skimmed it, but other than them saying the camera wasn't the best available on a smartphone, or that the back attracted fingerprints, it looked all positive to me

What flaws were you referring to?

im not sure how a matte back attracts fingerprints

Unless your hands are completely (unnaturally?) dry then contact tends to leave the odd fingerprint/smudge, but that's a trade-off against the "grippier" finish. Besides, if you're using it rather than taking photos of it, who cares about a few easily wiped-off marks if it feels "right"? :)

I'm imagining this surface being the same as the back of my Kindle Fire....which does get smudges from fingerprints.

I am a bigger fan of the white and fingerprints are one of the biggest reasons why, though it won't matter much because i prefer black cases. I wish they would make unbreakable glass already.

I'm OK with smudges if it has grip. Gripping a naked Nexus 4 was nerve wreaking due to it's slick glass back + fragile nature.

Fingerprints? I never have that problem. Ever.

The solution is easy, I make sure I get a phone in its factory sealed box and never open it. Never activate or use the phone. It goes on display at home, problem solved. See how easy that is...LOL

OR

If I'm buying it to actually use, I carry a small generic microfiber cloth which can be easily obtained at any Home Depot / Lowes / Target / Walmart etc. One quick swipe over the display & fingerprints vanish.

There you are, not one, but TWO Great Solutions.

Just like magic :)

I use my shirt or pants leg and never had a issue. lol

And no screen protectors or cases either. ;)

I used to absolutely hate fingerprints on electronic devices.
I gave up on that when I got my first iPod Touch in 2008.

I, like the poster above me, use my shirt to clean screens off and if it needs something more sensitive, I use a microfiber cloth.

The reason I make the effort to always have a microfiber cloth to use, is it assures I won't cause even the smallest scratches in the Oleophobic coating. In addition it truly eliminates the need for a screen protector for anything other than drops, a risk I'm willing to take. After a year or two, my display remains looking like new, a nice benefit at resale time.
