Root Tell Samsung you want the RIL

Samsung has given a very definitive answer to this already, and it is NO!!!

Someone on XDA filled out the section on the left of Samsung's Open Source website requesting RIL source, here is what they asked:

The RIL source code is missing. It is the only thing preventing development of custom kernels and/or AOSP ROMs for this phone. Please help us extend the life of this fantastic piece of hardware, Samsung stands to gain nothing by keeping the source code proprietary, and to lose nothing by releasing it. A release of the relevant code could potentially extend the life cycle of this device and further drive sales.
Samsung's response was very to the point:

[SAMSUNG OSRC COMMENTS DELIVERY NOTIFICATION]

classification : Mobile Phone
model name : SCH-I405_VZW

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your interest in our product.

Our proprietary code could contain our technology.

So we only publish Open source code covered under license which has obligation of publishing source code.(ex. GPL, LGPL, MPL...etc)
It would be appreciated if you can understand our situation.

Please accept our apology for not being able to handle your request up to your satisfaction.

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Apparently they think keeping their code proprietary gives them some sort of competitive edge against their rivals. It's pure crap, too, it's not like Motorola or HTC going to use their code to make their phones more competitive, they have their own code base which works fine for them. Essentially, it's Samsung being bitches because they feel like it for no good reason.
