Telus Hero Reference's

It seem's the VillainROM group is cranking out updates daily haha.

I just updated to 5.4, and this version just feels snappier and quick to me - seems like a big improvement over 5.2/5.3 (but maybe it's just me).
 
gah! i still have the SU Request problem. I'm trying to use Titanium Back-up but it keeps going to the SU Request and it just wants me to force close it! are you not having this problem? lol its becoming an annoyance.
 
I didn't back up my apps - all I used was the APN backup and restore.

I only had about 5-7 apps I really cared to keep, so I figured a clean wipe and fresh install wouldn't be a bad thing.

Sorry, wish I had some experience with the titanium backup and could help more. :(

Sorry if I'm repeating my self (I've posted this a few times in the last few days and can't remember who I said it to) but, have you enabled USB debugging in the settings? You might have to turn it on/off a few times but that fixes it for a lot of people.

Titanium Backup is amazingly useful once it's working, hope you get it sorted.
 
Man o man .... I'm kicking myself in the !!!!!!! for not having rooted long ago. This is so much fun ... I'm up to VillainRom 5.4.1 and absolutely loving it. This is the Hero I thought I had bought back in October only to realize I had gotten screwed.


VillainRom is the way to go .... Haven't tried others, but no need to.

I didn't - just removed the ROM file from the SD card to save space.

If you want to format though, it won't hurt anything (other than you'll lose what was on your card).

Awesome to know it does not have to be done. Reformatting the SD card every time would be a hassle (backup existing data, reformat card, restore data etc). Thank you for setting that straight. :-)

"APN Backup & Restore" used for APN reconfiguration. Any other particular application that simplifies the ROM swapping process? Any favorites for backing up and restoring bookmarks?
 
Hey guys looking for a little help, I'm trying to install the ADB drivers for my phone, but of course HTC sense doesn't work with windows 7, when I try and run it it fails and i can't get my phones serial number by following the steps in the linked guide.
In the guide it says to download a windows vista driver (32bit) but the link it sends you to is dead, does anyone know where I might be able to find another one?

I use ADB with Windows 7 32 bit, without HTC Sync installed. All I did was plug the phone in and let windows 7 do it's thing for drivers, which let me use it as mass storage. Then when I wanted to use ADB I installed the Android SDK. There's probably a neater way to get the drivers but hey, it works. Android SDK | Android Developers

But are you trying to get your S/N to create a goldcard? Because, at least on 2.1, you can find it in your phone's settings. It's also written under the battery.

so i'm at the HxDen phase... every time I write the goldimage to my sd card it erases everything.

Is it the memory card? If I do this with another memory card, can I later swap memory cards?
 
I used the 2GB one that came with the phone. And yeah, you can toss the goldcard once you downgrade.

Make sure when you open your SD card in the program, you open it as a physical disk and not logical. I didn't read this part close enough, and doing it as a logical disk, when I'd put it back in the phone, it would be blank and need to be reformatted.

Woohoo got my phone rooted and installed VillianRom 5.4, but whenever i try and open the market app it opens and then closes right away, no popup saying its stopped working and asking me to force closes, it just closes and now i don;'t know how im going to download my apps back, anyone got an idea of what i can do?
