It says my device does not support software upgrading via kies! what?!
Most likely.NICE!!!lol
doing it tonight!
do you need to re root?
Not even sure what Kies is and what ICS is. Tried reading about it and just not understanding the concept of it. Do I need it? LOL
ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) is the latest version of Android software for your phone or tablet. It improves performance and adds features like face unlock, easy task management and some other stuff. Do you need it, no, do you want to have it, yes.Not even sure what Kies is and what ICS is. Tried reading about it and just not understanding the concept of it. Do I need it? LOL
Are you connecting via USB? You can't do it via WiFi. Is Kies on your PC the latest version. Update first. If you have the latest Kies, your phone is a Telus SIIX and connected via USB then it will work.
But it doesn't work. i reinstalled Kies twice, and tried three different usb ports. I get: Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies.
Current firmware version : PDA:KJ3 / PHONE: KJ3 / CSC:KJ3 (TMB)
Does your phone have a custom ROM (not stock Telus)?
That kind of nails it. I am not 100% sure about the possible solution, but here are some ideas...It did, but then i flashed it back to the stock rom and factory wiped it. so its back to stock totally.

Did you flash back to stock using this guide :http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...d-ultimate-root-optimization-guide-steps.html
Did you reset your flash counter? I can't remember where I saw the guide (XDA maybe)

It's a long shot, but you might try reflashing to stock using the instructions in Blue1k's thread. I know that it took me two tries to root my phone, it may be that you'll need to try flashing to stock again.
For anyone looking for the above mentioned flash counter tutorial... [Flashable] Odin/Flash-Counter Reset SGH-T989D (Telus) and SGH-T989 (Tmo) - xda-developers
Yes, I am stalking you. I know that you are sitting at your computer, I can see you!EDIT: Jesus Xerxes, are you following me around?![]()

So it would seem that you do not have the stock Telus ROM installed even though you used the guide. You will need to make sure you get the Telus ROM and try going stock again. So i checked the flash counter... it says No...so i dont need to reset it.. but ill try anyway. lol
EDIT: So done that, still no luck. It was mentioned on XDA that you should have TLS (Telus), instead of TMB (T-Mobile)
all the carriers modify the rom to there level...that is why all the carriers don't have them at the same time..Can I get the update even if I'm not with Telus? (I'm with WIND) And I'm guessing I need to set my phone to its original setting since I rooted, right?
Even if the phone was originally from Telus?
Noob here, so to bring it back to its factory setting do I need to flash it with the Telus ROM or simply just do the factory reset? I actually don't have a clue.ah in that case do it.bring it back to factory update it then re root.
