Temporary laptop hinge idea?

So my HP laptop hinge has completely shit the bed, and i'm Looking for some ideas on how to fix it so it stays open and doesnt fall all the way back when I open it. currently i just prop it up agaisnt a table.

thats the extent of the "damage" looks so bad because I had to remove some plastic to get it to close, the actual hinge snapped due to heat from the laptop making the metal brittle.

Does it have to be pretty? Just glue some shoelaces or other rope-like material to the based of the keyboard and the corners of the screen.

pretty doesnt matter, right now im using gorilla tape it just doesnt hold, ill try shoelaces sounds like a good plan


so far so good with the string idea!
