I've just upgraded from a Galaxy Gio (EXTREMELY limited memory & power!) to a Galaxy S4 i9505 (nice phone, so far!). When I travel, I use Bluetooth headphones for music. But on a plane, where some airlines still insist you use 'Airplane mode' the whole journey, that disables Bluetooth as well as the phone and wi-fi. Of those three, Bluetooth is by far the weakest transmitter, and couldn't hurt anything.
So on my Gio, I would disable wi-fi (via the notification-bar toggle), then on the dialler dial *#*#4636#*#* which will open a test menu. Navigate to "phone info", scroll down to "turn radio off" and presto, you can have GPS, wifi and Bluetooth (if you choose to enable any - I only enabled Bluetooth), but no data, SMS, or voice.
But this 'secret' code doesn't work on the S4 (or is it OS-dependent? I'm using KitKat 4.4.2). Can anyone tell me the required code for the S4/KitKat, to enable me to disable the telephone transmitter, but not the others?
Thanks, Daniel (Australia)
