testing Miui 2.10.12

I have been testing Miui 2.10.12 and here are some of my impressions.

Positives:
- Jellybean 4.1.2
- No bloat, a 156MB zip file + 5MB update zip
- Built in CPU under-clocking utility
- Long pressing home key brings recent app killer; tells amount of memory freed
- There is an app permission log that tells each permission a user installed app has and also what apps use each permission. E.g. 1 app can access your contacts and which app.
- Built in virus scanner
- Manager for user installed apps that autostart
- Status bar has all toggles and customizable
- Many customization options and easy to download and install themes
- WiMax and mms/sms work
- Both Speedtest.net and Antutu are comparable to CM10 and other ROMs

Negatives:
- No app drawer: Home screen + left are your managed screens, flipping right shows most apps (not all preinstalled; e.g. keyboard voice recognition)
- Drains battery quicker than some ROMs
- Having some issues with some apps. Google voice recognition for typing is not working for me and with no app drawer, can’t ‘force’ it.
- Some utilities can use ext-SD and some can’t.

I see Miui 2.10.12 as being a slight battery hog but might be well worth it with some of the added security and other features.

How do you like compared to paranoid and AOKP roms?

I haven't run either.

I have used plain-Jane CM10 and Re-Calked. So far Miui has given the best awareness to unnecessary app permissions and better security for malware/virus.

I am also a fan of barebones ROMs and an admitted battery life whorr.

Hey septemberrain, the coolest Boost/Virgin Mobile store Manager. How you doin. I just got back to San Antonio, gonna come see you soon.

Hi! Have you come to see me before? I think you have maybe, Someone did at least. ^^.

So what is up? Where did you go?

and oops, Hijacking the thread.....

LOL!

The voice recognition problem and the app drawer would be a deal breaker for me. I have security of kapersky, and also droidwall and use permissions denied to control what apps have access to (though disabling a need permission will break the app) It is great for limiting unnecessary permissions (like red laser having access to your contacts)
