Testing out the Droid charge

I just purchased the DC and have had it for 6 days. I put a lot of time into researching what to buy as this is my first smartphone. I decided to jump on the unlimited data before Verizon ended it. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to keep this phone.

The speeds I'm getting here in the Baltimore area are incredible: 12-15 on average and sometimes speedtests come back up to 30MB/sec. Thats why I was blown away when I walked into the T-Mobile store tonight and tested my phone against the HTC sensation. Speedtests in the store for the HTC were 4-5 per sec on their 4g network while my phone was getting the usual 12. What I can't understand is how the sensation loaded websites faster than my charge EVERYTIME! I used multiple browsers on my phone including opera and dolphin but the charge was still slower. I'm not running a rooted phone but plan to root after I decide for sure to keep it. I'm wondering if this phone isn't allowing me to see how fast LTE really is.

I suppose what I really want to do is hold out and switch out my phone for the Droid bionic (if it comes out on the 4th as predicted because that still falls into my 30 day wirefly trial period) and wonder how fast lte will be on that device.

I'm not too sure of the specs on the sensation but I'm assuming its one of the newer phones on tmobile, which probably means a dualcore phone. Now I don't know for certain, but I think what you're seeing has more to do with phone speed than internet speed. Could be the sensation is actually loading up the pages faster, pictures, flash and all that. Same as if your phone was on a wifi connection with a desktop, the desktop will load the heaviest of pages pretty easily while the phone will struggle for a little while to load, despite having the same internet speed. Now if we are talking just a simple download of a file, your phone would probably win everytime, but factor in flash and pictures and after a certain point, faster internet can't make up for slower, laggy hardware. And unfortunately for us, Verizon is usually slow to bring out the good hardware, Compared to their competitors.
