Tether without root

Hey guys,
I am looking for a good tethering app so my wife can get her iTouch online when we're on the road. I thought i had found a good one, but realized it only works on windows. I guess I have to download a program on the windows PC for it to work.

So I'm hoping for one that will just work on anything.
Does anyone know of an app? Or do I have to root my phone first?

Any help will be greatly appreciated !
 
I'm pretty sure he means a wireless tether so he can get a signal for his itouch. if so, wireless tether only works on rooted phones from what i understand.....
 
I don't think that's possible. You need to tether your Eris to a computer and then tether the iPod Touch to the computer and then make one big threesome out of them. And I don;t think that's possible either.

But you can't just connect your phone to the iPod and get internet. You may be able to connect your iPod to the computer, have the computer get WiFi, and tether it that way.
 
You'd need to tether your phone to your pc and share its internet connection via wifi. You'll still need a pc in the equasion but at least its doable. Alot of people do it when at hotels and running an xbox 360 or ps3 to get online. Works pretty well.

I know what you want, Its WIFI Tethering. Make your phone turn into a WIFI hotspot so that your ipod can connect to it. This is possible but only with Root. Matter of fact the early roms that are being released by devs have this built in already. So if you have not upgraded to the leak 2.1 and are running 1.5 you could root your phone then load one of the custom roms and you would be good to go.
