Help tethered wifi connectivity issue

I finally resolved the driver issue and rooted my Esteem.

Then I installed the tether app and it loaded and operates perfectly. But I have no internet connection.

Connection is good. Signal is perfect. It says connected 11 mbps. But no internet. Could it be a LAN/ISP issue? I don't know which one to use.
 
i'm having the same issue and unfortunately i havent been able to find a solution ... anyone out there pls give us a hand!

i used to have tethering capabilities but now i'm facing this problem too. did metro do something to block it? if not, which app should i use? "Wireless Tether" used to work but now it doesn't. Is there a wired app that's better?
 
I finally had luck with the wireless tether. It's very finicky but it will work if I keep playing with the access control and MAC address.

No luck at all with Open Garden Wifi.

What did you do with the MAC address and access control to fix it? It's so weird, my old LG Esteem I returned for a different problem tethered perfectly.
 
Mine only works on fb..everything else seems to just sit there...its like they put a block..anyone else got any updates..
 
So, there's word from an extremely reliable source that Metro is beginning to block tethering.

For some reason it sometimes works when access is disabled and sometimes works when access is enabled.

And, to make it even more confusing, sometimes it works when the MAC address is checked, sometimes when it's not.

Could be an issue with my PC. I dunno.
 
Yeah that is the word out right now. Metro has begun to block any and all tethering. They will release a tethering option, for a fee in the near future.
 
Hoping *finger crossed* they are doing it bcause they are going to uncapp the data speeds verrryyy soon...

Metro is NOT capping their LTE data speeds. That's just their speeds (up to max of 8mbps under perfect conditions) due to their restricted spectrum issues. Until they buy more spectrum they can NOT go any faster.

Metro is capping the 3G CDMA data speeds in many markets, so they can go as fast as possible on LTE, as those two networks share the same spectrum.
 
Guys I downloaded and installed OpenGarden on my Esteem and have been able to tether and use my awesomely fast 4G speeds to surf on my Acer Iconia A500 with absolutely NO problems at all on at least 3-4 different occasions for about 20 minutes at a time. No blocks or speed caps or anything of the sort. I've been in the Orlando FL area at the time so if they are blocking tethering then I'm somehow slipping under the radar. NOTE: Both devices are rooted, my tablet has a custom rom, Esteem does not (obv). I wish I could provide some help to the OP but this info is all I got. :)
 
Ive been getting pretty mad at this situation. Wifi tethering work perfect for my Linux OS but doesn't work with my window 7. I'm stumped... Same computer
 
for you guys that say that it doesn't work... Works perfectly with my linux OS, however with Winblows all I can do is go on to facebook.com which is f'n crazy....
speeds will get 2000kbps.

ive had the indulge forever and has worked great with wifi tether but now my esteem killed it all
nothing i tried works
however i realized when using portable devices (not my laptops) such as my ipod touch it works. which is really wierd i dont know what i can do to fix this bs. somebody please tell us whats going on

edit: tonight when i get home i plan to switch back to my indulge and try the tether to see what happens. ill post my results

Did you just not read this post I had above yours. I'm pretty sure the problem lies with in windows. I have an Acer aspire one that's dual booted with Linux and windows 7. Linux started up AUTOMATICALLY whereas win 7 I have been working on it for about 2 days straight with no luck. Well I take that back, I can log onto stupid Facebook...
