Help Tethering Issue With HP Netbook

Last night I tried to tether my wife's Epic to her HP netbook with PDAnet. It wouldn't install because the netbook runs Windows Starter...at least I think that was the problem. It needs Windows Vista like our PC.

I just rooted my phone and installed the wireless tether it works great. better speeds than my dsl. you should try that instead of the pdanet. it is real easy to do too, it only took about 5 minutes.

I have Wireless Tether on my Huawei Ascend. Gives an excellent wifi signal strength to the Netbook.

This is for my wife's Samsung Epic. She doesn't want to root her phone.

I used to use easy tether. It worked great, but I just used the free version. Didnt want to pay the 10 bucks.

I'm having the same problem. How did you resolve? I'm inclined to update the OS, but want to know that it will fix the problem.
