Help Tethering with US Cellular

Has anyone had any success tethering with a US Cellular phone. I have had not luck at all. Every time I try to tether I get the following message on my phone.

Tethering and Portable WiFi Hotspot service requires a subscription plan.

I never had to do this with my Mesmerize phone. I think this is crap that they started doing this.

I have tried the app FoxFi and it did not work either.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have the T-Mobile version and I ended up needing to use a ROM actually. I'd tried everything else including the APN trick. I'm guessing it's something in the code that needs to be modified.

Wish I could be of more help. =[

What do you mean when you say you had to use a ROM?

I cannot see paying $25 more a month so that I can tether with my phone. I am paying for 5G of data a month and weather I user it with my phone or tethering with my laptop it should not matter.
 
I just discovered something. I have been working with my replacement phone transferring files for about a week now because the usb port went bad on the old one. I have to mail my old one back in this weekend. I did covered that the tethering works on my old phone for some reason. I don't know what is different is with my replacement phone that would cause this. The firmware version are the same. I wish I could do a complete copy of the old phone and put it on the new phone, then maybe it would work.
