Tethering won't work

Hi all....rooted my captivate using the release the beast upgrade. Got rid of the bloatware.....added some new apps and tethering. My question is the tethering won't work.....click on it.....it shuts down the wifi....and then it says can't connect. Any ideas? Thanks
