Root Tethering.....

So to start things off I will let everybody know that IDK hardly a thing about all this rooting/rom stuff for my Motorola Droid1 running 2.2.

A friend of mine put Astro, Juice defender/plotter, Titanium Backup, ROM manager, Superuser and Wireless Tether on my phone a while ago.

I understand some of it but dont really mess with it.

My Wireless Tether (from 'theory of evolution')only works for about a minute when I turn it on then doesnt transmit or recieve anything.

is there anything I can do to remedy it?

I have seen that alot of people dont care for 2.2 update. Is this maybe the problem?

Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks, Chris K.

It sounds like your friend rooted your phone but left the stock (original) ROM on it. If that is the case then the wireless tether app you have would not work with your kernel as far as I know.

You can go to the market and download Barnacle wifi tehter and it should work for you.

For additional details go to about phone and post what kernel and version/build you are showing to confirm that you are what is called stock rooted. I would stay away from using ROM Manager until you have read up on custom ROMs and such in the Droid - All things root forum.

Also welcome to AF.
