Help Text alerting

My wife previously had a lg voyager and just got the X (as did I coming from a Dare). On the voyager, if a text came in and you didn't here the notification it would beep at specified interval reminding you there was an unread text until you acknowledged it. She wants this on the X. Is there any way to do this? I've searched and can't find it.

Do not think you can do it in the stock app but you can with Handcent.

Yep. The stock texting app doesn't have particularly customizable notifications, but Handcent has lots of options. Try it out.
