How do I stop my text messages from scrolling across the top of my screen when I get a new message but still be allerted in the lock screen that I received a message?
 
Open messages, click on the left hand button ( Menu ) and go to settings.
Scroll down to Notification settings :

Leave Notifications checked to give you sound and an icon in the status bar but uncheck Preview message.

Simples....
