You can try *#*#checkin#*#* from the dialer then in a few seconds you will see a message in the messages bar at the top. then check settings>about phone>system updates Hope that helps

Are you already rooted and have 2.2? I got the same text today but no update either, but I'm rooted with 2.2 already.
