Help Text Message Alerts?

[K_M]

I was just looking through my settings and menus throughout my Spirit, and notice these four alerts? Anybody know what these are for...because I've never gotten one?

You don't want to see the Presidential alert.

30 seconds after you see it, Mr. Predator Drone introduces you to Mr. Hellfire Missile.

I keep them all unchecked. They are not necessary, unless you don't watch the news or stay informed.

In case of a severe storm or a missing child, or some other catastrophic event... You will receive a text message with a loud siren like tone.

On 2/7/13 I received an alert for a blizzard, and that's when I realized they were on, so I disabled them.
