Help text message colors...

i updated to 2.2 and in my text messages i have a yellow box and blue box for either sent or received. my question is- is there any way to modify these colors? Thanks.

Not without editing the apk file in the android system.

do i need to be rooted for this? i remember messing with apks on my evo (rooted) but i can't remember what i did.
if i dont need to be rooted, can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!

You'd have to be rooted as the apks for this are in the /system folder.
