Help Text message/Contacts issue

I got this phone recently and updated to Android 2.1. I sent one text message to 2 recipients in my contacts list (for arguments sake they are called Bill and Ben). Now, whenever I send a text to Bill, I notice the phone has also always included the number for Ben too.

Sometimes I only notice this when I get a reply off Ben and want to reply to it, it is including Bill's number also.

How do I prevent this from happening?

I've tried deleting both of these contacts but it still puts the numbers in regardless.

Try sending the sms from contact list, not from sms app.

I tried that, and when I got the reply and went to reply to that I notice it still has 2 different numbers in the recipients box.

I've tried on both the standard SMS utility and also on Handcent which I downloaded.

It's a bit annoying really!

Strange! Try deleting the sms thread in your phone.

I tried that too. Deleted all traces of the contact and conversations then saved a new contact but it still happening.

I send Ben a text (only his number added at this point). Then I get a reply. When I open this reply to reply again then it's at this point the extra number for Bill is in the recipients box. I just can't fathom it out!

Hi, i've been having the same trouble since october last year. I have finally found a way round it by adding the +44 bit to the start of the phone number, and saving it as a new contact, then deleating the original contact.

I never thought of doing that but I solved the problem by doing a full reset of the phone (a bit drastic I know but it's sorted the issue).

So far so good!
