Help Text message fails

I am wondering why when I send a photo attached to a text it either takes hours to reach the intended or it fails altogether? So aggravating
 
Bad signal. If your getting large fluctuation from 3g to 1x exchange your device. My first one started todo that.
 
Also might depend on the size of the picture and the phone you're sending it to. If you're sending it to someone with an AT&T iPhone, pretty sure some can go as far being invisibly rejected.
