Help Text message from contact

On my One SV running ICS when I enter a contact in people there doesn't seem to be a method to send an sms text message easily from within the contact. If I click the mobile you can call and there are options to send email etc but no option to send an ordinary text. When i installed "whats app" it appeared in there with the option to use that app.

There is a settings option to set default action for widget that you can set to send a text so that when pressed it opens a new text for the contact, but the widget is small and quite tricky to press and it's easy to accidentally dial the contact by mistake. But I can't see a way to set this globally for all contacts. Surely I shouldn't have to do this for every contact. I know you can access this via the message app but in my previous android phone HTC Desire HD and also the Desire S there is an option button to send text within the contact, much like the send mail.

Did I miss something really obvious? Also is this the same in jellybean?

I seem to remember on the DHD with gingerbread you set the primary number and that was the one with the option to send an sms text to.

Thanks but i had already read that before i posted it comes with the phone. Also note that the version that HTC put on their site is mistakenly uploaded as an EXE file (HTC_One_SV_LTE_User_Guide.EXE), it says its a pdf but is an exe when downloaded. You can change the extension to PDF but that does worry me that it is an executable. Can't be bothered to decompile it tbh. I have now found that by pressing and holding on the mobile number opens a drop down box style menu with option to send a text. Seems obvious now but in the older version of android it was much simpler with a button to send a text. Sometimes I wish they would just leave things alone, and not change it just for the sake of it.
