Help text message memory full??

I keep getting this message and don't know what to do. I have deleted all of my sms threads and still get this message. Any help you can give me?

You'll need to delete an app or two from your phone. But before you do that, move some apps to your SD card (if you haven't done so) and you should stop getting the notification.

Thanks! That helped. I hate that the internal memory fills so quickly. I think it's time to try rooting but I've never done it before so a little worried I'll break it. :)

Thanks again!

There is soo much you can do if you root your phone. But make sure you read and read and when you get tired of readin read some more so when something goes wrong like a bootloop you can easily fix it yourself rather than freaking out. You can use super one click (SOC). But the new 2.2 root guide posted had been simplified and is tried and true as the most reliable way to get root, recovery, and fastboot which you may never use but may come in handy one day.

Thanks for the info! I've been doing a lot of reading on it and I've spent a lot of time reading through threads here.

So you do you recommend the 2.2 root guide over SOC? I was leaning more towards SOC since it's seems so automated but I realize that easier isn't always better. :)

I used Super One-Click and it works fine. I found out later that one click methods lock your bootloader, so I'm eventually going to go stock and start over using the guide.

The bootloader may not be necessary (I can't even tell you what it's for) but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind.

Hmm...I wonder if someone more knowledgeable than I could clue us in to what the bootloader is and does???

Fastboot is a very low level interface between the phone and the pc, the one click methods cant lock it or unlock it. NOTHING other than a full flash can change its status like the downgrade used in the guide to give you fastboot, or updating via LGMU which would restrict it. If you have fastboot access now youll have it after SOC, OTA updates, and different ROMS. Whether you have it or not depends on how old the phone is. If you had it when it was being shipped with the original software then youll have it anyway and theres no need to downgrade (most havent had it for that long)

Yes chances are you will never need or use fastboot. Most of what you do with a rooted phone will be done on the phone or in recovery. However, if something happens where your recovery gets messed up/doesnt stick and you get in something as small as a bootloop which is usally an easy fix. Unless the LGNPST guide works (which would be much longer process and would wipe all your data) you may as well toss your phone in the trash. But if you do have fastboot then flashing your recovery or full ROM will be pretty simple. Ive never needed to use fastboot because of such an issue but OTHERS HAVE. The downgrade process is simple and i believe you should have it just in case. But its not something you will for sure need, but IF that day comes youll be glad you have it.

There was a thread about SOC vs 2.2 root guide.

http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/329160-root-soc-not-root-soc-thee-question.html

And as i said, if you already have fastboot there is really no difference between the 2 and the root guide has a short version if you do that even though it wipes the phone would be easier than SOC, IMO

Thanks again KingOfGreen! I'm trying to root but not having much luck with either method. :( I'm going to try on a different PC tonight.
