Help Text message notifications

I recently installed a new SD card. I copied everything from my old SD card to the new one. Now everytime i get a text message my notifcation sound is a song that's on my SD card. I have a notification selected for both GOSMS and the stock SMS (the same one) but when I get a text message the notifcation sound is a song. I tried restarting the phone but same thing happens. Any one have any ideas??
 
U might have notification selected as that certain sound u want but not text message. To get the text message alert just hit your text icon/menu button/settings/select ringtone. From there choose your tone.
 
I already did that and it was still the song instead of the notification sound. I just ended up deleting the folder that had the song in it that was being played and so far I'm back to my regular notification sound. I'll try later to reload the songs and see what happens.

I apologize in advance if you've already double checked this, but...did you set the text messaging notification in the text messaging app settings or via the main sound settings menu? Only reason I could think your situation was occurring is if maybe you set the notification sound in the main settings area, but not necessarily for the stock text messaging app.
 
Yeah I did change the main notification sound, the stock text messaging sound and the GOsms sound and was still getting the song playing for a notification. the only thing that got rid of it was deleting the folder that the song was in and now I have the right sound notification. Haven't tried copying the song over again but I'm not sure so as of right now my sound issue is resolved!!
 
I am trying to set custom ringtones to only specific people for when they text me the sound I want to have play will play. How do I do this?

Go into your app drawer & scroll down until you find HELP CENTER.
Open & scroll down until you see ASSIGNING RINGTONES TO INDIVIDUALS.

If this only works for phone calls,try using one of the many SMS/MMS applications from the GOOGLE PLAY STORE,such as HANDCENT,GO SMS, etc.............
 
Thanks for the help. It took a while because the sound I set kept wanting to be the default ringer for everybody in my contacts. It seems as tho it has to be done like this.

Select song from music app> Set as ringtone> Back to home screen> Settings> Sound> Phone ringtone> Default ringer *or which ever you choose*.

So basically after choosing the sound as your ringer you have to go back and set the ringer for your other contacts to be the other ringer/tone of your choice so you are not stuck with everyone having the same ringtone.
