Help text message problem

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem with the nexus s 4g. Whenever i send a long message it comes across as a bunch of crazy numbers and signs to the person receiving it. Short messages work just fine but the long ones go crazy. Any help here?

I have the same problem - I'm not sure why it's happening but I'd like to prevent it from happening again so any help is also appreciated.

There has already been an OTA maintenance update released, perhaps this is one of the issues it fixes? My Nexus S is being delivered today so I can't test this theory yet

I already got the new OTA maintenance update - did it the first thing when I got home on Sunday - the problem started happening afterwards.

I use Handcent, so far I don't think I've had any issues

Ok nevermind, it just happened to me too... my text was about 34 words

I think I found the fix, there's a setting (in Handcent, not sure about stock) called split 160 that will automatically split long messages into multiple ones

You need to set the option in your SMS app to automatically split the SMS messages. Currently that option is not in the default SMS app on the phone.

Where did you go to see that option? I looked in the settings for the stock SMS app, but I'm not seeing it

The stock app on the NS4G doesn't have the option unfortunately (it would need to get addressed in an update from google) You have to use a third-party SMS app like handcent or gosms as they have that option.
