text message problems

I started having a problem with my messaging on my s3.
The problem is that lets say I text someone at at 4:00PM and they answer at 4:00 or 4:01(times are all based on phone's clock), their text message ends up going on top of mine even though they answered after me so it looks like they answer a question before I ask it. And it really bothers me does anyone know how to fix it or is it something I just have to live with?

Does it still happen after you turn the phone off and power it back up ?

i used to have this same problem on the Captivate.

Yes I am currently still having this problem after turning it off and on.

Check your date & time settings.
Setting> date & time
Make sure your automatic date & time is check.
Also automatic time zone is check
