Root Text message - reminder?

Ok, this is probably an easy one, or a RTFM question, but...

When I get a txt message, it plays the sound I selected, and vibrates. If I do not notice, or turn the phone on, after that, it just has the blinking light on the phone indicating something was missed.

How do I get it to keep making a sound every X minutes, or vibrate every X minutes, until I notice there is a message? I keep missing my texts, and not noticing for hours... I don't care what X is as long as it keeps trying to notify me every so often.

I put this in the root section since I am running a custom rom (destroyer v2) but please move it if you feel its in the wrong place or this is a universal setting.

Install handcent and you can customize all your text settings including reminders. The stock messaging app doesnt have reminders other than the blinking light.

I've also heard that the app sms popup can be set to do reminders - i've never used it personally, though.

Yes, sms pop up does have reminders as well.

so if I install handsent, do I need to do anything (uninstall/configure anything) or just start using it once its installed?

You can just start using it, but you will need to turn off the stock messaging notifications.
