You could install Android on one of the older Nokias, the N900 I think.

Is it just your other half that gets the bizzare messages, have any of your mates etc complained?

Not that I've noticed, but she's the only one I send long(er) texts to, so on the smaller ones it probably passes as typos.

As part of the fierce competition between Android and Apple, with Android coming out on top, Apple has decided that if you send a text to an Android phone from your iPhone, it will iDon't.

Just kidding, sort of. I have read that this is actually a problem with sending texts from iPhone to Android and have yet to read about a solution.
