Help Text messages from non-android phones received as MMS

So all of a sudden today my phone started receiving any texts from iphones as MMS messages, which is highly annoying because

a. I have to download it
b. Another notification that doesn't go away when I open the text

Is this an issue with my settings or theirs?
 
I think it is a setting of theirs. When my sis sends me a text from her iPhone it comes as an mms, but no one elses. She says I'm not the only one to complain about it, so the issue is with her phone or service, not mine.
