About a day ago my phone spontaneously decided that it was mid-April 2014, and so I set the date and time manually. I checked later in the day and found that the network-provided time was now accurate, and it has been since. The problem is that incoming text messages from certain contacts are stamped with a date in mid-April, and so threads in Hangouts and the stock SMS app are horribly out of sequence.
When I send a message, for example, it immediately moves it above any messages "sent" on April 16, 2014 by the other party. I've tried setting my own date and time manually, but my phone (a standard Galaxy Note 3 on Verizon) still seems to think that most incoming text messages are being sent from some point about two months into the future. The only way I can get the messages to show in the correct order is to change my own phone's date to April 16, 2014, which obviously isn't optimal.
