Help Text Messages/SMS/MMS not working!!!

Hello All!

I have no clue what I did but I'm not receiving text messages any longer. I THINK it might be related to deleting two handcent files in my SD root this morning, since I had deleted the program. Things I've tried to do:

- nandroid back to a previous save, nothing.
- Flash two different ROM's, nothing.
- DL Handcent again, nothing.


HELP!?!?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

hi there, so you download HC again and then what happens?

perhaps try another text app, smsGO or chompsms and see if you have the same issue, if you've accidently deleted and HC files from SD then it should affect HC nothing else.

how about your stock sms system....same problem?

I'm not receiving text messages from the stock or HC program, even after re-dl'ing it. Regarding the two files I deleted, 'handcent' was definitely in the file name so I'm going to guess the same that it shouldn't be the issue. It's just weird that all of a sudden I have a receiving SMS/MMS problem.

I'm currently trying to nandroid back to a Sense ROM to see if that helps matters.

Ok, well, it looks like nandroiding back to an old Sense ROM fixed the problem for me, it now seems to work.

So my question now is WHAT THE HECK HAPPEN?

1) What ROM were you on before?
2) Had you frozen anything with titanium backup or removed anything from /system/app recently (before the nandroid restore, of course)?

1) MIUI 1.28
2) No, nothing frozen (dbl checked even) nor deleted anything in the system/app folder.


I'm really perplexed by this....very weird. The last thing I recall working on was flashing a VVM.APK to get voicemail working.

I doubt it's related to removing a couple of directories on the sdcard, especially considering what you did to try to fix it, and what ultimately fixed it. If you want to go back to miui, I'd say update your profile while you're on a sense ROM before going back.

Altho, I'm getting MIUI withdrawl.........I cant deny enjoying the '4G' while at work today. Priorities, priorities!

Hehe, I thought it was cool too when we first got coverage here, but I spend 90% of the time on wifi, and the rest drains the battery too much with 4g, so I never use it any more. Just give it a couple more days . Let me know if you run into any more problems.
