Help text messages

I'm not receiving any text messages from people that are texting me, but I am receiving my own text messages if i text myself.

I did just have this phone activated yesterday and I ported the number, the process was complete before 11:00 am cst, does it take longer than 24 hours for all the metropcs functions to work on my phone or is there a setting on my phone that needs to be adjusted?

prl is 3027 just dial 228 and say roaming list don't trip thats how u update ur PRL lol

Well there are a couple of things about porting. First, if you ported your number from any carrier at a metro dealer (myself ), the port should be completed in no more than 15 min because the system sped up the porting proccess. It used to be 24 hours. Second, depending if you gave your correct account info from the other carrier to metro; calls, text, web should be working fine on your device. Otherwise you'll be carrying two phones for outgoing and receiving calls on the other. Power cycle, reset, and "test text" to any number. No settings needed. Should work fine. Hope this helps

well i did have it ported at a local mpcs dealer. i gave them all the correct info of the other provider. the rep had the process complete in about 15 minutes. everything on the phone is working properly. i'm able to send text messages, but the only text messages i'm receiving are from other mpcs phones

i just called the mpcs customer service, they said it could take the full 72 hours for all functions to be working properly, but you say it should be working in 15 minutes, I'm confused.

Do i wait the full 72 hours or try to trouble shoot now?

that worked, i'm at 3027 now. (i'm going to the store now to buy some planters peanuts as a token of my appreciation )

now i will send some text and see if i get a response

It should be 15 min for EVERYTHING to function properly with the number port completed. Not that I don't rely on calling customer service, but you shouldn't wait 72 hrs when it's already done so don't worry. But you receiving texts from ONLY mpcs phones is a little unusual. I've only had one customer with that issue and he ported his number too like yourself. I just dialed *228 to update the new prl and I reprogrammed the phone manually and voila, he called later telling me it works perfect.

It should be 15 min for EVERYTHING to function properly with the number port completed. Not that I don't rely on calling customer service, but you shouldn't wait 72 hrs when it's already done so don't worry. But you receiving texts from ONLY mpcs phones is a little unusual. Don't worry about the programming now. You should be good for the moment. Make those texts messages to non-mps phones and you should receive them back. Call them to make sure they get it and you're good to go

what phone plan are you oon. i noticed that when i was on the $50 or $60 dollar plan. i got my messages instantly and i would get the chase verified in txt. since i been on the $40 plan. everything lags like i dont get message til certain hours and i have never gotten a chase verified since on the plan. i changed and got all. put it back and nada. so i went back to the $50 with joy =]

i actually wanted the $40 plan because i only use my phone for business ad to check emails and gps, but was told gps doesn't work on the $40 plan

i wonder if they the metro navigator doesn't work on $40 plan, but i should have asked if the other navigator works on the $40 plan (the one with the blue triangle, because that's the only gps i use)

The Google Navigation (The blue Triangle ) is wayyyy better then Metros navi IMO. Googles has alot more features. IE Sat. view, street view, traffic view, walking, etc etc.

ok, looks like I'm getting all my text messages now, I think taking the PRL update yesterday afternoon, and then waiting overnight as Gomez025 suggested.

I noticed this morning the text starting coming through, so Gomez025 was dead on accurate with his info.

switching from a metropcs 3G to this LG Esteem, this phone deserves at least the $50 plan, lol
